From 27 through 30 March 2019 I will be participating in the 60th Annual Conference of the International Studies Association in Toronto. Together with Tracey Blasenheim (University of Minnesota), I organize a panel on the blurry boundaries of war ("War by other means?", WA24). In the context of this panel, I will present a paper on the relationship between diplomacy and warfare. In addition, together with Christopher Daase (Goethe University Frankfurt) and Dorothy Noyes (Ohio State University) I am convening a panel that explores how exemplary deeds and events shape international politics ("Exemplarity in world politics", FD49). Christopher and I will contribute a co-authored paper on precedents in international politics to this discussion.
